A.J. Rose ready to prove spring game was no fluke

A.J. Rose feels he can be a big impact player in 2018.

A.J. Rose made quite the impression back in April after a spring game for the record books.

Rose ran wild back on April 13th in Kentucky’s Blue and White Game, going for 134 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries.

Rose said the game was surely a big confidence booster.

“It gave me a lot of confidence. I went out there and basically showed what I was capable of. I just look forward to putting that into all 12 games this season. Rose said.

For Rose to be able to display the talent he showed back in the spring game, he is going to need more reps.

Rose rarely got any touches on the ground 2017 as a freshman, appearing in seven games while rushing 15 times for 37 yards. He had a career-high nine carries for 26 yards at Mississippi State.

Luckily for Rose, head coach Mark Stoops see’s a lot more playing time for him.

“They’re going to get reps” Stoops said of Rose and fellow running back Silhem King.

Stoops went on to add that he says Rose as a good fit for a third-down back.

This would give Rose an important role, and he is ready for it.

“I’m ready I have been waiting for this. I am ready to get out there and show the team what I can do. I am ready to play first day. Rose said.

Rose is undoubtedly is someone who can take some pressure off of Benny Snell and lesson what was a hefty workload a season ago.

Snell will be the team’s feature back and get the majority of the reps, but just maybe, the Cats can form a Boom Williams - Benny Snell like combo with A.J. Rose playing the Boom role.
