Winter Storm Thor makes its appearance today across a broad swath of America. Looks like those of us in Kentucky are going to get it the worst.

Classy.

  • Zac Ellis writes for Sports Illustrated that Kentucky proves yet again that they can win while not playing well. Consider:

"I just want the regular season over," Calipari said. "I’ve been telling the guys for two weeks, just get this over with. The real stuff starts in a week or two. Let’s just get this done."

The season is a grind. It can really wear you down, and these are just young men. I am very impressed with their poise, they have displayed it repeatedly this season when the chips are down.

  • Matt Norlander says that all college basketball should want to see Kentucky continue to win. Well, Matt, good luck persuading Louisville fans, Duke fans, North Carolina fans, UCLA fans, Indiana fans, ad infinitum.

Nobody but casual fans without a serious rooting interest in a team that has a significant NCAA history is going to root for Kentucky. It would be exactly the same if it were Duke, North Carolina, or some other school.

Having said that, this is something to see, although as a "card-carrying member" of the Big Blue Nation, my agreement should be rightly seen as anything but objective.

    Also this … :

So now, at 30-0, UK’s one game away from history, an undefeated regular season, something the program’s never done.

…Isn’t right. 1954-55 was undefeated in the regular season at 25-0.

  • Consider this song from Les Miserables, absolutely one of the great plays ever written and what I consider to be a fantastic movie:

A Wildcats fan has written a song to the tune of "Do you hear the people sing?" Here are the lyrics:

[Enjolras:] Do you hear the people sing? Singing a song for BBN? It is the music of a people Who will soon be champs again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the beating of the drums There is a game about to start When the tip-off comes!

[Combeferre:] Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with us? Beyond the NC-double A There’s a world you long to see

[Courfeyrac:] So join in the fight That will give you the right to be free!

[All:] Do you hear the people sing? Singing a song for BBN? It is the music of a people Who will soon be champs again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the beating of the drums There is a game about to start When the tip-off comes!

[Feuilly:] Will you give all you can give So that our banners will be raised Some will stay and some will go Will you stand up and take your chance? The sweat of the players Will water the floors of Rupp!

[All:] Do you hear the people sing? Singing a song for BBN? It is the music of a people Who will soon be champs again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the beating of the drums There is a game about to start When the tip-off comes!

    I like it.

  • Numberfire lists what they consider the five best Wildcats freshmen.

  • Will the Wildcats ever lose? John Clay wonders.

  • Latest escape has the Wildcats one win away from regular-season perfection. Consider:

That Kentucky managed to win on the road despite shooting below 40 percent from the field and struggling on defense is a testament to its resilience. At this point, the top-ranked Wildcats have proven it’s foolish to count them out of a game unless they have fewer points than their opponent and the clock reads triple zeroes.

    Indeed.

  • Three things from Kentucky’s win over Georgia.

  • Coach Cal gives Ashley Judd a hug. Lucky sod.

  • Who the heck looks for crap like this?
