Tweet of the Morning
Today marks the second consecutive month with a Friday the 13th. How often does that happen? Maybe a lot. But doesn't seem like it.

Whoa. I missed that.
Your Quickies:
Kentucky football
-
UK football's seniors, especially Bud Dupree, shone brightly at Kentucky's pro day.
-
Spring practice is ongoing. Wednesday was their first day in pads. We should be getting some news out of there this weekend.
Kentucky basketball
-
Kentucky finely tuned for the SEC Tournament. Well, that remains to be seen. I've seen more than one Kentucky team come out of the layoff before the tournament flat.
-
John Pelphrey says Kentucky could reach "another level:"
"The scary thing for Kentucky is they haven't hit their peak yet," Pelphrey said. "There is another level for those guys."
I think that's true, at least it had better be. If Kentucky has peaked now, it's definitely not a good thing.
-
Florida wanted that third UK matchup. Be careful what you wish for, Gators...
-
Billy Donovan doubts rain of threes will defeat UK. I think this is mostly right. Great shooting cures a lot of woes, but to beat the Wildcats, it takes more, like great rebounding and limiting turnovers.
Other Kentucky sports
-
The Gym Cats, ranked 24th in the nation, conclude their regular season tonight with Senior Day vs. Pittsburgh and Ball State in Memorial Coliseum tonight.
-
Bat Cats open their season today against #6 South Carolina in Columbia. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM.

College football

The SEC shouldn't consider dumping the title game. I agree, let the winner earn it for good and all. Yes, it can cost one of our schools a spot in the playoff, but hey, this is football. If you don't want to get knocked out, don't lose. It's that simple.
-
RE: above. Even the Big 12 is moving to a conference championship game.
-
Senator Blutarsky at Get The Picture has some incisive comments about the ongoing Oklahoma situation as it relates to the football team. Thought-provoking.
College basketball
-
Falling down: Ole Miss may have stumbled its way out of the NCAA Tournament by losing to South Carolina last night. Meanwhile, Frank Martin's charges are playing their best basketball of the year.
Lots of late-season collapsing going on around the SEC this year. Tough to watch.
-
Great minds: Voodoo Five, SB Nation's South Florida Bulls blog, makes many of the same points I did about changes in college basketball, including the officiating.
-
Bitter truth: Steve Lavin says he's a poor conference tournament coach after St. Johns gets whacked by Providence. Glad one of our early-season victories is holding up a little.
Other sports news
-
The SEC has a new commissioner, Greg Sankey. If he's anywhere near the quality of Mike Slive, the SEC is in good hands.
-
Kyrie Irving puts up a new NBA high for the year with 57 points against the San Antonio Spurs.
-
Anthony Davis just turned 22. Amazing to be so young and so talented.
Other news
-
Ganyemede, a moon of Jupiter, apparently contains liquid water. I'm not surprised.
-
NASA launches a rocket from Cape Canaveral designed to study the interaction between the sun and earth's magnetic field. I'm going to be vacationing in Cocoa Beach this year, maybe I'll get a chance to see a launch.

America's 10 best brewery tours. I gotta go to the Kona Brewing Company next time I'm in Hawai'i. I love their beer.
