Looks like Aaron and Andrew Harrison will grace the cover of Sports Illustrated for kids ahead of the NCAA Tournament. Both of them have been playing well lately, but particularly Andrew. While Aaron is mired in a funk from the arc, he is shooting the ball well inside the 3-point line and is playing fine defense, as demonstrated by his 3.1% steals number, second on the team only to Willie Cauley-Stein. Despite his 3-point woes, Aaron is still pretty efficient at a 113.0 offensive rating, and is finding other ways to help the team while he searches to regain his deadly 3-point eye.
Andrew has been on a tear of late, racking up huge assist numbers and acting as the leader of the Wildcats. It’s taken him a while, but he is really coming into his own as a point guard, averaging over 4 assists against only 1 turnover per game in his last four contests.

When people say they hate Calipari, what they really mean is they wish they had him.

Maybe. More likely it means they’ve drunk the anti-Cal Kool-Aid and can’t stop doing it.

Bud Dupree was impressive at the NFL Combine this weekend with an amazing 11‘6" broad jump and a 42" vertical. What an athlete! Lots of people showing him as a first-rounder.

Speaking of Bud Dupree, the Bengals seem interested. They’re going to have to get in line, though.

Dakari Johnson wants to be the "X" factor for Kentucky. I think, if he just plays the way he can, those are minimal expectations.

Heh.
The second-best team in the SEC isn’t Arkansas. It’s Kentucky’s bench. Both units looked out of sorts last week in Knoxville, and the Wildcats won by 18 points.

Matthew Mitchell wants more energy from the women’s team. They certainly haven’t looked good lately. I know a lot of that is due to the drag of the long season, but they have to find a way to buck up and get back to winning.

Hoops travels to Ole Miss tonight in what seems to me to be a must-win game.

Danielle Gayler wins the 200m backstroke, is the SEC champ in the event.

Where will Jameis Winston go in the draft? Questions, questions.

Remember the alleged NCAA violation involving Joker Phillips at Florida? The Gators self-imposed penalties were good enough, according to the NCAA.

Louisville dismisses Chris Jones from the team. Rick Pitino has no comment, but the Card Chronicle does.
John Clay has some thoughts on the matter here. Consider:
If you’re looking for the inside dope on why Jones was given the boot, you’ll find no unconfirmed rumors or salacious speculation here. I don’t know why Jones was suspended and don’t much care.
But having starters dismissed in back-to-back seasons doesn’t exactly cast the Cards in the best light. I can’t think of too many programs where that has happened, or at least not in one as prominent or successful as Louisville’s.
Finally, there is a report out there that Jones will be receiving anger management treatment, and working with John Lucas. I hope it works out for him.

An interesting story about Bill Walton. I have a hard time listening to him call games, but I’m very glad he’s doing well.
