Kentucky heads down to Alabama today to try to give the Tide a taste of what they usually give us on the gridiron. Should be fun.

• Well, this sucks. Construction at Commonwealth Stadium means no Blue/White game next year.

Kentucky basketball

• The Hoophall Classic is this weekend in Massachusetts. Isaiah Briscoe will be participating, as well as UK recruit Brandon Ingram.

• Fox Sports’ Reed Forgrave and Tarik Turner talk about Duke’s weaknesses and Kentucky’s strength. Anyone who imagines Jahlil Okafor as a rim protector is out of his depth in this sport. Dakari Johnson has equivalent overall athleticism to Okafor, although he’s not as skilled.

  Turner is on drugs if he seriously thinks Ulis is going to replace Andrew. These media people are just completely insane about this Ulis-Harrison thing, and absolutely refuse to let it go. I can only assume it is to produce controversy, because it’s not a serious debate if you have even a modicum of understanding of Calipari.

  At the end of the game, it’s more likely both Andrew and Ulis will be in together than Ulis in favor of Andrew. Why would you favor one over the other when they are so different and yet both so valuable? That’s why these guys are commentators and not coaches, I suppose.

• Calipari says players get "protected" in the platoon system (drink):

• The Ol’ Ball Coach thought seriously about retiring. I’ll miss him when he does.

College basketball

• The best of Saturday college basketball. The big game today is the Duke-Louisville contest. If Duke loses this one, it will be their first 3-game losing streak since 2007. Keep in mind that Duke has 9 McDonalds All-Americans, and that Kentucky is younger than they are (Duke 314 in experience, UK 346)

• Kyle Wiltjer leads Gonzaga in scoring. I wish he were still here, but he’s doing so well with the Zags, I can’t help but think he made a good call.
