Anthony Davis leads Team USA to another FIBA World Cup victory over New Zealand. Remember how Davis could barely get into the games during the 2012 Olympics? Isn’t it amazing what a couple of years of development will do?

Ira Combs calls Saturday’s game a "major step forward in the rebuilding process." I’d love to believe that as well, but it’s hard for me to place the rout of an FCS team in that category. I do get what he’s saying, but calling that victory a "major" anything seems like a bit of an overstatement to me.

Mike Douglas thinks the defensive line will get better. I do as well, I’m a bit more concerned about the linebacking corps right now.

Kentucky received a $4 million dollar donation for the new football practice facility.

Will Steven Borden be the answer at tight end? He looked pretty good on Saturday. I’d say the job is his to lose.
-
Blake Bone is as proud of the block he made on Patrick Towles touchdown scramble as he is for the TD he scored himself on Saturday. That’s exactly the kind of attitude we need from receivers — to take pride in their blocking. Too many receivers are just unwilling to put their bodies on defenders.

Kentucky carrying confidence into Ohio Bobcats preparation. I just want to see the defense step it up, and the offense go faster.

Kentucky’s adjutant general is a big fan of Coach Cal:
When Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari helped raise about $1 million for 23 different charities with his annual John Calipari Basketball Fantasy Experience, no one appreciated his generosity more than the Kentucky National Guard because of what it meant to the Kentucky National Guard Memorial that will create a space for families, friends, and comrades to reflect and remember those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
