Kentucky Wildcats Wednesday Quickies: Fainting Goat Edition

A recent Arkansas State fake punt attempt tried to use the "fainting goat" strategy. Look at the slot receiver (the lower half of the screen), who pulled the "fainting goat technique" on Miami. In case you have forgotten what the "fainting goat technique" is, here is the video seen ‘round the Internet:

• Kentucky freshman Garrett Johnson on catching all those big passes:

• Towles learned at Florida that he "can hang." I suppose that’s a modern version of "hang in there," and if so, yes, I agree:

• Demarco Robinson talks about how close he came to being kicked off the team. I like stories of redemption — that is, of course, if he manages to make it all the way through.

• Patrick Towles isn’t surprised at the emergence of some playmaking receivers.

• Kentucky is healthy and in good spirits after the Florida game. Usually after we play Florida we are banged up both mentally and physically. I credit Erik Korem.

• Coach Cal will give out Tempur-Pedic pillows today, along with a few mattresses, to some of the Big Blue Madness campurs (See what I did there?).

• Malik Newman talks about his in-home visits.

• Composite rankings for 2015 recruiting. There is still a tremendous amount of talent left on the board, which is good, because UK only has one commitment (Charles Matthews) and he’s out of the top 50.

• Some interesting insights on why kids might consider the shoe company that sponsors them in the AAU. I see his point, but I wonder, really, how much it matters. The shoe companies are not loyal to people, but dollar bills.

• Skal Labissiere enjoys his visit by John Calipari.

• For A2D2: Hard-working Randall Cobb talks about what he learned from his parents. Consider:

  Cobb had one childhood friend going back to the days when they toddled around neighboring backyards together. They were inseparable. But as they got older, [his mother] Tina severed those ties.

  "She knew something that she didn’t like. She pulled me away and told me I couldn’t hang out with him," said Cobb. "At the time, I hated her. I didn’t want to talk to her. I didn’t want to be around her.

  "Four or five years passed and he murders a guy. He’s in jail facing time. He won’t get out until we’re 60. All it takes is me being there with him and being associated with him — and I could be right in the same cell there with him."

• Jalen Rose thinks Chris Webber should apologize to Michigan for his role in the Fab Five scandal. There is a lot of stuff between them, it seems. A shame, really, that was a long time ago.
