If anything good comes out of the Ray Rice thing, it is a clear "message received" when it comes to athletes and domestic violence. Texas Longhorns coach Rick Barnes has suspended guard Martez Walker indefinitely pending resolution of misdemeanor assault charges which apparently involved a female.
Just remember what your mama and daddy taught you — don’t hit girls. Just don’t.

On her biggest career day, my wife was more excited with autographed Randall Cobb pic than flowers. I married the right girl.

Both Javess Blue and Braylon Heard were able to practice this week and will be on the field on Saturday.

State of the U, the SB Nation Miami Hurricanes community, thinks Florida is only going to manage a 7-14 point victory over Kentucky on Saturday:
This Saturday will be a bigger test for the Gators, with the 2-0 and improved Wildcats visiting Gainesville. Kentucky allowed just 3 points in a win over Ohio on Saturday, giving up just 223 yards of total offense. I’m a little concerned with QB Patrick Towles making his first road start in the Swamp, but I still think his offense is capable of leading a few scoring drives. Florida wins on Saturday night, but only by 7-14 points. Kentucky and Mark Stoops will leave Gainesville with their heads held high after a strong effort.
I would take this with pride. The last two years have left me a bit jaded, but it’s clear that some football people have been impressed by what Kentucky has managed to do on the field this year so far. I have been reading more and more of this kind of thing lately. It’s good to finally see.

Ira Combs on the Florida game:
Trust me the Gator defensive backs have closing speed the players from UT Martin and Ohio University only dream or fantasize about . The other side of that is another interesting item to watch saturday and that is to see if these new Kentucky WR recruits have the type of speed needed to gain some separation from the gator defensive backs .
Yeah. That’s right.

Former Garrard County and current Madison Central coach Mark Scenters is very impressed with Damien Harris. Landing him would be such a coup for UK, perhaps the biggest football commit ever, all things considered.

Joe Paterno’s family wins the right to full discovery against the NCAA in their lawsuit in an Pennsylvania court. I told you that the NCAA was like rats deserting a sinking ship when they waived the sanctions a few days ago. Their action against Penn State clearly exceeded their authority, and the legal dominoes are now lining up against them.
