Today is day one of game week, when the college football season kicks off. It’s been a long wait for the return of college sports.

John Calipari on UK's Bahamas trip: "I think what everybody saw was, 'Wow, when he has some veteran guys back, it looks different.'"
— Brett Dawson (@BDawsonRivals) August 24, 2014
I think everyone would agree with that assessment.

Ten questions about Kentucky football this season. I think this is about right:
Q: How many games will Kentucky win this season?
A: Crystal balls are so fragile, so I don’t usually carry one around. But I see Kentucky at least doubling its number of wins each of the past two seasons and getting four victories. I’d say five is a possibility, too, but it’s all so fuzzy given the number of young players Stoops and company are managing. There’s always lots of preseason hype, but UK still has some depth issues at key positions and will need to stay healthy to have a chance. Many of those wins will need to come early in the season when UK is at home to give the Cats some momentum heading into a brutal stretch with four of the final six games on the road.

Josh Forrest thinks the UK linebacker corps can get it done. Well, don’t expect us to take your word for it, big guy, but I hope you’re right.

Really interesting article about how technology has revolutionized preparing players for football before they get to Kentucky. Consider:
[Incoming JUCO linebacker Ryan] Flannigan stayed in contact with defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot throughout the summer and was able to access all of the materials that UK sent him via his iPhone. Eliot would call and quiz Flannigan on what he had learned, and Flannigan could ask his future coach any questions that he had about the material.

John Calipari is donating $1 million to 23 different charities, and has announced an upcoming charity event called "Comedy Mania" at Rupp Arena to raise more.
-
Calipari says the whole team, including him, is tired after the Big Blue Bahamas. It was kind of exhausting to watch six games in six days, but it certainly helped the basketball withdrawal symptoms many Kentucky fans have been experiencing.

Former Memphis player Dominic Woodson is apparently heading to Tennessee. As has become sort of standard procedure, they, like Memphis above, will request an NCAA transfer rule waiver, for apparently the same reasons.
