There was an earthquake today in northern California, a magnitude 6.0, that was the most significant earthquake in the area in decades. So far there have been no deaths reported, but scores of injuries, three of them critical.

Year 2 of Mark Stoops: Attitude adjustment. Consider:
He says he had nothing to do with that. In fact, he’d likely tweak it if he could. Stoops’ mission entering his second season as head coach can be distilled down to one simple idea: Change the culture. Early indications are that he is.
“Oh,” said All-SEC defensive end Bud Dupree, “he’s changed it dramatically.”
More from the Herald-Leader’s Jen Smith in the same vein.

The one UK football player even U of L fans should be rooting for:
Yet after all that trial and tribulation, all the rehabilitation and worry, Clemons need only stay healthy through this week’s practices to at last make a return. If the junior running back plays in Kentucky’s season opener against Tennessee-Martin, he will have returned to an official college football game after an absence of 1,057 days.

One-on-one with Mark Stoops. Consider:
What was the biggest lesson of Year 1 as a head coach?
“The first thing, I think, is it just reinforces all the things you believe: You better recruit and you better develop your players, because it’s a very competitive and difficult league. I think that’s important. It reinforces what you believe. But I think time management is a big deal, and with that comes two parts: staying the course of what you believe in and also a little bit of patience, which you don’t really have. You put that all together and it gets back to what I knew coming into it: Be extremely organized. But that still gets hard to manage that when you’re right in the middle of it, because there is a lot – a lot – going on.
