The meme of today seems to be John Calipari’s "100 pound coat" remark meant as a metaphor to describe the relative levels of pressure on the players of Kentucky’s opponent and the Wildcats. Here’s the quote:
"What these kids deal with, to be here, to play here, to be part of this program, they wear a 100-pound coat," he said. ". . . The people coming in to play us? They got windbreakers. They’re loose as a goose."
I have to confess, this sort of thing is tiresome to me. It reminds me of the scene from Jerry Maguire when the pro football player is crying on TV and complaining, "The media don’t understand the pressures $54 million comes with."
Just like with that guy, that’s something we’d all like to get a shot at, and there isn’t a coach in college basketball that wouldn’t love to have Calipari’s problem, and very few players, if any, that wouldn’t be willing to don the 100-pound coat of a #1 team with high expectations.

It’s the ‘Cats vs. the Cards this weekend. Ira Combs has it thus:
To set the scene for you the Cats are rolling into "The Ville" on a (5) game losing streak with an overall record of 5 – 6 but still have one more opportunity to circle the wagons and extend their season into the holidays and get valuable extra practices for their extremely infant roster which has 21 redshirts with nothing to do until winter workouts begin in mid January if the Cats don’t pull off the upset . The "Cards" on the other hand are riding high tide into the Thanksgiving Holidays after solving the time honored delimma of whipping "The Irish" right underneath the Golden Dome which I’m sure enhanced their bowl opportunity selection to an even higher $$$$$ maybe even a New Year’s Day bowl , that is , unless the Cats can pull off the upset which would leave the Cards with (4) losses and a mid level bowl .
It would be nice to spoil Louisville’s dreams, but I’m not at all convinced Kentucky can do it. They needed the bye week, but do they have enough left in the tank to blow up a two-touchdown line and beat the Cardinals at home?
Hope springs eternal, but right now, there’s not much going for us but hope.

Montana State coach awed by UK’s talent. I found this comment useful:
"Totally two different teams," Fish said when asked to compare Kentucky and UCLA. "You guys play in waves, and UCLA plays five guys 35 minutes a game."
That should work to our advantage.

Four basketball recruits visit Kentucky this weekend, all unofficial visits:
- Kobi Simmons (Atlanta area) — 2016
- Thomas Bryant (Huntington Prep) — 2015
- Miles Bridges (Huntington Prep) — 2016
- Curtis Jones (Huntington Prep) — 2016
-
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Just for reference, #UK gave up 28 pts to Montana St while #UCLA gave up 78 to Montana St. You're on notice #Bruins, be ready 4 a BeatDown!

The ten best rivalries in college football. This is bogus. First of all, Army has been dominated by Navy for years now. Second, there’s no way Michigan-Ohio State is a bigger rivalry than Alabama-Auburn.

Glad it’s the Cardinals having this difficulty this season and not UK:
