Four-star center Kofi Cockburn has plans to take a visit to Kentucky, according to Adam Zagoria.
Cockburn, a 6-10, 255-pound big man, is the No. 26 player, and the No. 8 center, in the class of 2019 on 247 Sports’ rankings. He now plays at Oak Hill Academy with fellow Kentucky recruit Cole Anthony.
Cockburn, who previously expressed interesting in visiting Lexington, currently has 30 offers, though Kentucky is not yet one of them. His offer list does include Kansas, LSU, Tennessee, Auburn and UCLA.
The current favorites for Cockburn are the Syracuse Orange and the UConn Huskies. Each school has a 50/50 split in his crystal ball, with just two predictions being logged thus far.
On tape, Cockburn’s skillset still looks a little unrefined, though his sheer physical stature gives him a huge leg up. He’s capable of getting to the rim and finishing above it whenever he wants. He has some post moves and is a dominant force on the glass. He shows a little bit of shooting touch in his highlight reel, which you can check out below.
For now, this looks like a recruitment Kentucky may not become a major player in until guys like James Wiseman, Vernon Carey and even Oscar Tshiebwe make their decisions. Kentucky has already been focusing hard on Carey and Wiseman, while Tshiebwe may be on the verge of a Kentucky offer.
