Kofi Cockburn has been in contact with UK and wants to visit

Cockburn is emerging as a serious UK target and hopes to visit Lexington.

UK is hard at work building on their 2019 class, which may include a new big man target.

By now, you probably know all about their top frontcourt targets in Matthew Hurt, Vernon Carey and James Wiseman. However, there’s another rising big man that could be catching UK’s eye.

According to Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader, Kofi Cockburn is the latest 2019 recruit that could be in line for a UK offer. Cockburn even revealed at the Peach Jam that he’s been in contact with UK for several months now.

Cockburn said at Peach Jam that UK, too, has expressed interest. He told the Herald-Leader that he’s been in contact with the Wildcats’ coaching staff for about two months now, and he’s hoping to make a recruiting visit to Lexington sometime soon.

Back in January, Adam Zagoria reported that UK was interested in Cockburn, so this has been brewing for some time now.

The 6-11, 248-pound center from Christ The King (NY) is ranked 24th in 2019 by Rivals, while ESPN has him at 23rd. He’s been one of the biggest risers in 2019, and he looks like someone more than worthy of a UK offer.

Cockburn has been among the top rebounders in the Nike EYBL, including 9.0 per game at the Peach Jam to go with 17.8 points per contest. He plays for the New York Rens, who are led by point guard Jalen Lecque, who already has a UK offer in 2019.

Among the many schools to offer him thus far include Kansas, Cincinnati, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Syracuse, Oregon, UCLA and Virginia Tech among others.
