It looks like UK has secured an official visit with Vernon Carey.
Carey just revealed to Evan Daniels that the current plan is to take an official visit to UK for the weekend of the Blue-White Game in October.
Carey recently trimmed his list to five, and it included the Kentucky Wildcats, Duke Blue Devils, Miami Hurricanes, Michigan State Spartans and North Carolina Tar Heels.
Carey, the No. 3 overall recruit in the 2019 class, stands at 6-9 and 245 pounds with a great low-post game and is a best on the boars, similar to that of DeMarcus Cousins. UK has actually been selling Carey on teaming up with James Wiseman to be UK’s twin-tower version of Cousins and Anthony Davis, two former Cats now playing with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Depending on who you listen to, Duke and Miami are viewed as the two leaders in this recruitment, but UK has been getting more buzz recently. John Calipari and/or members of his staff met with Carey multiple times during the spring recruiting period, showing that they’re very serious about landing him in 2019, despite being strongly in the mix for Wiseman as well.
It looks like it may be paying off now that Carey will officially visit UK, though there’s a long way to go in this recruitment to pry him from the ACC schools.
