Kira Lewis is one the fastest rising recruits in the Class of 2019 and Kentucky may very well be poised to land his services.
Lewis is a 6’3, 160 pound PG/SG out of Hazel Green, Alabama. According to Rivals, Lewis is ranked 81th nationally and a four-star combo guard. He was recently cut from the USA Basketball’s 18U squad, but that hasn’t deterred him from continuing to get better. Instead, it motivated him.
According to Eric Bossi, Lewis said it was a great experience for him and he hopes to grow from it.
Kentucky has yet to offer Lewis, but he did visit Lexington last weekend.
“It went good, I got close with the coaches and got to see some of the players, see some of the campus and all of the tradition they have so it was a great visit.”
Even though Kentucky hasn’t offered, it’s clear that Coach John Calipari is making Lewis a priority. And Lewis knows the kind of resume Coach Cal boasts.
“You see all of the legends that they’ve had that have gotten to where you are trying to get to and being in front of a guy like Coach Cal and coach (Kenny) Payne, it doesn’t get better than that.”
Lewis also discussed Indiana, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisville. He has an unofficial visit set for Georgia on June 17 and he is also planning one for Alabama and Indiana before the end of the month.
Right now, Alabama seems to be the hometown favorite with 100% of his crystal ball predictions. But Bossi says expect that to change if Kentucky offers.
The potential game-changer here would be an offer from Kentucky. If the Wildcats end up offering...they would likely become the favorites to land Lewis.
That has to be music to Kentucky fans’ ears. 2019 is setting up to be an amazing class as Kentucky is in solid position with several top players and already has commitments from Tyrese Maxey and DJ Jeffries.
