Whitney is the No. 19 player and the No. 5 small forward in the class of 2019 on 247 Sports Composite rankings. He received an offer from Kentucky on July 20.
Whitney currently has 24 offers, a list that includes the Louisville Cardinals, Florida Gators and LSU tigers. Whitney has also visited the Illinois Fighting Illini, Seton Hall Pirates, Georgetown Hoyas and Syracuse Orange.
The 6-6, 190-pound wing is from Roselle, New Jersey, and is playing his high school basketball at Roselle Catholic. Kentucky has passed the Fighting Illini in Whitney’s crystal ball, including recent predictions from Evan Daniels, Jerry Meyer and Andrew Slater. When those three are picking the same school, that’s a pretty good sign said school will be hearing good news very soon.
As a wing, Whitney is at his best in transition. He can finish through contact at the rim and has the athleticism to beat defenders up the floor. He’s also a capable shooter from mid range, but what really makes him stand out is his motor on both ends of the court, something that undoubtedly has helped John Calipari fall in love with Whitney.
