Kevin Knox Sr. said Thursday that his son will still likely make his decision on Friday, per Bob Putnam.
I think Knox Jr. is going pro, but in an interview with CatsPause, Putnam said he believes the freshman wing is still torn over the decision.
“I don’t have a hunch either way. I think he’s really torn,” Putnam said. “One of the reasons he came to Kentucky was to prepare for the NBA. It was a lifelong goal to be a one-and-done. But there are so many people coming out this year it’s no guarantee that he will be a lottery pick. If he stays he could be a top five pick considering next year’s class is not as strong. And he really loves Kentucky.”
What say you?
It appears Kevin Knox Watch will continue for at least a few more days.
According to Tampa Bay Times reporter Bob Putnam, a decision from Knox probably won’t come until Friday.
Knox is strongly considering a return to UK for his sophomore season, but the allure of being a lottery pick in the 2018 NBA Draft is very hard to pass on.
When the season ended, everyone assumed Knox was gone to the NBA, but Knox and his family have given little hints along the way that suggest a return to school is very possible.
Following UK’s loss to Kansas State in the Sweet 16, Knox said he’s thinking about what could be if some of his teammates pass on the NBA and return for another year in Lexington.
“It’d be crazy if a lot of us came back,” said Knox. “With the recruits we’ve got coming in and with what we went through this year, next year, we’d be really dangerous. A lot of guys can come back, a lot of guys can leave.
“I’m pretty sure next year, it’s gonna be crazy. We’ve learned so much this year, we could help the freshmen coming in. It’s gonna be a great season next year regardless of who comes in and who doesn’t.”
