Quade Green has swagger, but at times, that turns into a bit too much cockiness.
Green was certainly riding high after the Kentucky Wildcats’ win over the Ole Miss Rebels, a game in which Green scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. He also dished out four assists and grabbed two steals.
“I’m a scoring threat. I can score in all three ways, it doesn’t matter,” said Green after the win. “They help and I’m right there to shoot the ball, make shots. If they know I can shoot they even help my teammates get to the lane because they try to not miss, too.”
But Green may have let his big night make him a little too overconfident in his postgame meeting with the media.
When asked about UK’s upcoming matchup with Florida, Green made it clear what UK needs to do in Gainesville.
“Now, we gotta go to Florida and spank them,” said Green.
That’s a bold statement for the freshman point guard to make, and the veteran Gators will undoubtedly have this on the bulletin board for Saturday. It’s a big game for both teams, as the winner will clinch the No. 3 seed in the SEC Tournament.
Green has been playing well as of late, and he’ll have to keep that up for the Cats to win in Gainesville.
