We are not only inconsistent from game to game, but we show the same inconsistency throughout a game. This has to be very frustrating to the coaching staff.
Here’s our NCAA stats after this past weekend’s game.

If you look at the play by play, the inconsistency shows up with fumbles, dropped passes, and passes not well thrown. It also shows up in our offensive line play. We block well, then blow an assignment.

The defense is the same as the offense. We look good on one series and we miss tackles and assignments. In spots, our defense looked pretty good. We still can’t stop the other team on 3rd down – long or short.

Landon Foster had that ugly 13 yard punt and he also had one blocked which was the failure of someone to make their blocking assignment. Those two plays made our special team play look awful.
Early in August, Neal Brown talked about his expectations:
Plays per game: 75
3rd Down Conversion Rate: 48%
1st Down yards: 4 or more yards
Actual
Saturday's plays: 79
3rd Down Conversion Rate: 33.3%
1st Down yards: 63.3% - 4 or more yards (18 of 30 attempts)
