Three-star defensive tackle Cavon Butler has committed to Kentucky, he announced via his Twitter Friday.
Butler is from Toledo, Ohio, and had scholarship offers from Alabama, West Virginia, Kent State and Pitt, and also had interest from Notre Dame.
“First I want to thank my family, teammates, the whole Whitmer organization and my best friend/brother Romelle Grier for helping me get to the position I am in now! I appreciate all of you for being there for me through the ups and downs of this recruiting process. I want to thank coach Stoops, coach Marrow and the whole Kentucky organization for welcoming me into the wildcat family! I am truly blessed and honored to say that I am committed to The University of Kentucky #bbn,” Butler said in his tweet.
The new Wildcat recorded 91 tackles, nine for loss, and 12 sacks in his junior year. The rising senior is the 15th commit of the 2019 class, which is currently ranked 40th in the nation.
Butler, strong-side defensive tackle, is the No. 57 defensive tackle on the 247 Sports Composite. He has earned multiple first-team honors and was third-team all-state.
Butler will get his first chance to sign following his verbal commitment during the early signing period in December.
