The Dontaie Allen hype train keeps on rolling.
The Kentucky high school star just jumped all the way to No. 46 in Rivals’ Top 150 rankings for the class of 2019 after not being in the top 150 going into last week. He is also now the top recruit from Kentucky, surpassing David Johnson (114) and KyKy Tandy (87).
247 Sports has bumped Allen up to No. 81 overall , ahead of Tandy (97) but behind Johnson (56) in terms of Bluegrass prospects.
Allen is now a four-star prospect in both rankings. This comes on the heels of Allen receiving eight Division I scholarship offers in four days.
Rivals’ Corey Evans told Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader that this jump was to be expected.
“He’s a 6-foot-6 wing that can play the ‘2’ through ‘4’ on offense,” Evans said, according to Roberts. “He can get to his spot any time he wants, which is impressive for not being an elite-level athlete. I think his IQ for the game is above par. He can play-make when he needs to. But I think it’s his three-level scoring skills that stand out the most.”
Allen, currently preparing for his senior season at Pendleton County High School, now has 24 scholarship offers. Among those are the Louisville Cardinals Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Oklahoma Sooners, Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers and Vanderbilt Commodores.
Kentucky has not yet offered, but the interest continues to increase for John Calipari and co. The hope is he’ll visit UK after the July evaluation period and score an offer then.
