Future Wildcat Tyrese Maxey has been named a candidate for the Nike EYBL regular season MVP.
Maxey has appeared in eight games for Houston Hoops. He’s averaged 23.8 points, 4.1 assists, 2.6 steals and four rebounds per game. He’s shot 52 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from 3-point range.
Here’s the statement from D1 Circuit’s press release:
Tyrese Maxey has been superb all season long. The 6-foot-3 Kentucky commit started his season with Drive Nation, moving over to Houston Hoops after the EYBL’s opening session. Maxey has been just as good with the Hoops, joining a team chock full of his friends and long-time teammates. Maxey’s per-game season averages sit at 23.5 points, 50.0 FG%, 83.3 FT%, 5.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.9 steals. Maxey is one of the leaders in the clubhouse for this award, and should be in great shape if the Hoops maintain the same level of team-success during the fourth session.
Maxey committed to Kentucky on May 9, and might play in the 2018 class if he can reclassify. He’s the No. 13 player in the class of 2019, and the No. 3 combo guard, according to 247 Sports’ composite.
The five-star guard stands 6-foot-3-inches, and weighs 185 lbs. If he can reclassify to 2018, he’d play a major role in a star-studded UK backcourt, featuring Quade Green, Immanuel Quickley and Tyler Herro.
