One player that no one has even mentioned amidst all of the roster craziness for next season is Jemarl Baker.
Baker spent the entire 2017-2018 season on the bench nursing a knee injury that has been bugging him since last summer.
Well, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was on KSR Wednesday morning and shed some light on the mysterious shooting guard from Los Angeles. Here’s what he had to say about Jemarl when he was asked what to expect from Baker next year:
“Better than you hear. You guys will see next year,” said Shai. “He’s a really special shooter, but he’s an even better person off the court, and that’s why I think he’ll be great.”
This has to get all of BBN extremely excited. The Cats haven’t had a ‘sharpshooter’ since Malik Monk a couple years ago. Add Jemarl with the likes of Tyler Herro and now you have two guys who can really hit the outside shot consistently.
Shai also added that, “He’s a really good kid…He’s really responsible. He’s really got a good head on his shoulders.” He went one step further to say that if anyone should run for president on last year’s team, it should be Jemarl.
This is encouraging to hear as a knee injury is something very hard to come back from. As long as Jemarl stays the course, we should get to see him on the court next season.
