Several UK Recruiting targets listed as potential No. 1 draft picks

One (or more) of these guys could join a long line of Cats taken 1st in the draft.

John Wall, Anthony Davis, and Karl-Anthony Towns have all represented the University of Kentucky well after being selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft. Since KAT, however, no recruit has come in with the hype of being a potential 1st pick.

Based on Corey Evans’ recent “Evans Seven” list, several current targets have the potential to have their name called to being the NBA Draft.

The List

  • James Wiseman (2019)
  • Cole Anthony (2019)
  • Vernon Carey, Jr. (2019)
  • Jaden McDaniels (2019)
  • Scottie Barnes (2020)
  • Jalen Green (2020)
  • Michael Foster (2021)

John Calipari has prioritized James Wiseman for quite some time. Before Penny Hardaway took over at Memphis. most believed Kentucky was a heavy favorite for his services.

Vernon Carey has been on top of the 2019 rankings off and on in recent months. While many feel he is a Duke lean, you can bet that Cal would love to land he and Wiseman together as one of the more formidable front courts college basketball has seen in some time.

Cole Anthony, son of former NBA player Greg Anthony, has soared in the 2019 rankings this summer. While he has yet to land an offer from Kentucky, I would be surprised if interest in the rising point guard does not continue to grow.

Scottie Barnes is one of only two 2020 recruits to receive an offer from Kentucky, and it is promising to see him as one of the only 2020 guys on this list. Barnes is a star in the making, and he is at the top of Calipari’s recruiting board moving forward.

It would be great for the Kentucky brand to have another No. 1 pick in the next few years. Could one of these players be that guy?
