UK may very well land an in-state recruit in 2019, and it appears the likeliest candidate may be Dontaie Allen.
The Pendleton County star is having a great spring on the AAU circuit, which earned him an invite to the Pangos All-American Camp among other honors.
Now, Allen is set to visit Lexington this summer. According to his AAU team, Allen will take an unofficial visit to UK on June 10.
The interest in Allen from schools across the nation has been ramping up after his breakout junior season, as he averaged 31.8 points per game on 59.1-percent shooting and hot 39.6 percent from deep. He also grabbed 11.4 rebounds per game.
The 6-6, 185-pound Allen is ranked 216th overall in the 2019 class by 247 Sports as a three-star prospect. ESPN gave him a three-star grade as well. He’s recently scored offers from West Virginia and Virginia Tech. He already held offers from Xavier, Morehead State, Winthrop, and Western Kentucky. Louisville, Cincinnati, Tennessee and Purdue are also showing interest.
UK has also shown some interest in University Heights star KyKy Tandy, but in recent months, Allen has been the in-state star getting more attending from John Calipari and his coaches. As good as he’s been this spring, it won’t be a big surprise if he lands an offer during the visit.
