John Calipari leaves Dallas to see Matthew Hurt in Indianapolis

John Calipari is ramping up his recruitment of one of the best 2019 has to offer.

This weekend, John Calipari has spent most of his time in Dallas checking out multiple recruits that are playing in the Nike and Under Armour circuits.

Some of the players Cal has watched thus far include; D.J. Jeffries, James Wiseman, Tyrese Maxey, Vernon Carey, Keion Brooks, and Jalen Lecque. D.J. is already committed, and Cal is hot on the trail for the rest.

Amidst all of the fun in Dallas, Calipari decided to take a detour to Indianapolis Sunday morning. He’s visiting another 5-star power forward there for the 2019 class: Matthew Hurt.

Hurt is a 6-10 prospect from Minnesota and he’s the #4 recruit for 2019, according to 247 Sports. Cal has already had Hurt in for an unofficial visit to Lexington, and he extended a scholarship offer to him this January.

Some other schools that are going after Hurt are; Kansas, Louisville, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Duke.

Matthew has put up some major numbers for his junior season, tallying 33.9 PPG, 15 RPG, 3.9 BPG, and 3.6 APG. He’s also having a big weekend in Indy:

He’ll be a great addition to any team, which is why Cal has gone out of his way to visit him. Hurt is probably third in line behind Vernon Carey and James Wiseman in terms of 2019 bigs that Calipari wants. Saying this, Hurt is still a tremendous prospect that would be a great centerpiece for UK’s 2019 class.
