Kentucky vs. Florida game thread and headlines

The Cats open SEC play in Gainesville.

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Florida Matt Pendleton-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats open SEC play today with a tough road game on the road in Gainesville, taking on the Florida Gators on ESPN at 12:30 pm ET.

The Wildcats are looking to get the conference slate started with a win, but it won't come easy as the Cats play their second road game of the season (if you count that Louisville game with a huge chunk of the crowd in blue).

Gainesville is certain to be rocking with the Wildcats coming to town as the 10-3 Florida Gators are looking for a marquee win.

This Gator team is solid offensively, ranking 12th in the country in points per game at 86.3 and they rebound well, ranking 4th in the country in offensive rebounding and total rebounding.

If the Cats want to escape Gainesville with a win, they’ll need to play an efficient game offensively and limit second-chance opportunities for the Gators. If they can do those two things, the Cats will have a good chance of picking up a big conference road win to get the SEC slate started.

This will also be today’s game thread, so come join the fun!
