The Kentucky Wildcats are sitting at 12-2 on the season, as they prepare for a date with the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday in College Station.

After several down years by UK Basketball standards, John Calipari returned to his one-and-done philosophy this season. It has worked thus far, and it appears the Cats will be pushing for a potential 1-seed come Selection Sunday at this point.

With that philosophy also comes plenty of NBA talent, and that is the case with the roster this season. However, the names at the top of the list at this point are not ones many would have projected.

Travis Branham of 247 Sports took some time to rank the top 30 players at this point of the college season for the upcoming NBA Draft, and three Kentucky players made the list.

Leading the way was Reed Sheppard at No. 7 overall, followed by Rob Dillingham (15) and Aaron Bradshaw (27).

To follow up, Branham also followed up with some offensive efficiency stats and defensive efficiency stats to help with his rankings. All three players for the Cats make an appearance, including Reed Sheppard leading the country in Points Per Possession (including assists) at this point in the year at 1.598.

These numbers are ones that seemed quite unlikely to start the season, but they speak volumes to why the Cats are seeing so much success through the first 14 games of the year.

Not quite making the list are DJ Wagner and Justin Edwards. Despite that, the BBN should expect both to sneak their way back up into the top 30 by the end of the season, as they are both too talented to fall outside the first round. That will also mean great things for where this UK team could be come the Final Four this March.

Enjoy them while you can BBN. It’s looking like the Cats are going to make another strong impression at the NBA Draft come June.
