Highlights, MVP, and Twitter reactions as the Cats beat Penn in Philly

The Cats get back into the win column thanks to a solid neutral-court win over a quality opponent.

The Kentucky Wildcats traveled to Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia for a date with the Penn Quakers on Saturday afternoon. In need of a bounceback win, the Cats picked it up, beating the Quakers 81-66.

In the first half, the Cats had to shake off a little rust. After not playing since last Saturday, it took Kentucky some time to get back in a rhythm offensively, as well as start to show some life on the defensive end of the floor.

With both teams looking to push the pace, it was Aaron Bradshaw who made the difference early in the first half. Showing his strengths on both ends of the floor, he helped the Cats stretch the lead to 10 points as they headed to the locker room up, 39-29.

In the second half, the Quakers caught fire, trimming the lead all the way down to one point. But then this Kentucky team’s talent finally won out. After putting together some back-to-back stops, UK showed that this team is elite in transition. If they can get to running the floor, there are very few teams that can beat them.

It wasn't pretty for all 40 minutes, but the Cats got back in the win column.

Next up is a date with North Carolina in Atlanta.

Box Score

MVP

In this game, we have to give the MVP to Aaron Bradshaw.

He finished the night with 17 points on 7-12 shooting and 1-2 from three. He also added 11 rebounds and three blocks. He also had a team-high +/- of 17.

In only his second game of the season, Bradshaw played a huge role for the Cats tonight as they got back in the win column. He flashed on both ends of the floor, utilizing his length to help on the offensive glass and block shots on defense, leading to several transition buckets.

It has been said that this Kentucky team needs Bradshaw to go as far as many think they can go. He proved that today with an elite performance.
