Ray Davis going “back and forth” on playing in the Gator Bowl

The Cats could sure use the star running back for the matchup with Clemson.

With an opponent and destination now locked in, the Kentucky Wildcats are starting to turn their attention to the Clemson Tigers for their matchup in the Gator Bowl later this month.

To kick off the festivities, Mark Stoops and Dabo Swinney talked with the media via Zoom on Thursday and answered some pertinent roster questions for the upcoming matchup.

For Coach Stoops and UK, the biggest question mark is whether or not star running back Ray Davis will suit up in Jacksonville. Stoops says that Davis is still very undecided on if he’ll play or sit out to prepare for the NFL Draft.

“I think he’s kind of going back and forth. Trying to decide if it’s best for him to play in the (Gator Bowl) or not.”

With his play this season, Davis has pushed himself onto NFL Draft boards and is looking like a likely mid-to-late-round pick, which is why this question is a tough one to answer.

The running back position is a tough one, and the last thing any potential draft pick wants is to suffer an injury before they get their chance to produce on the big stage.

Whatever Davis decides to do, one thing is for sure: the BBN will be there to have his back as he takes this next step in his career.
