There’s no denying the Kentucky Wildcats have dealt with big-name, high-profile athletes over the last decade. They may have another one on their radar.

Carmelo Anthony, who is widely considered one of the best scorers in NBA history, has a son who is just a few years away from college. His name is Kiyan Anthony, and he’s playing at Long Island Lutheran in Glen Head, New York.

A 4-star recruit in the class of 2025 ranked 39th at 247 Sports, Anthony is starting to hear from Kentucky. In part, Anthony’s hearing from Kentucky, per the shooting guard, was due to the Cats being on the prowl for 5-star class of 2024 guard VJ Edgecombe.

“I recently started to talk to Kentucky because they’ve been at our games and practices because of my teammate, VJ (Edgecombe). That’s one of his options. So I guess they were really impressed in practice and stuff. So they started reaching out to me, and we were just talking,” Anthony told On3’s Zack Geoghegan.

The Cats already have a commitment from Jayden Quaintance, who is a 6-foot-9 center and a 5-star recruit in the class of 2024. Adding Edgecombe would be massive for a Kentucky program set to lose many key pieces.

For the year after, there’s a good edge the Cats continue to pursue Anthony, and with their success at developing guards, there’s no reason to think Kentucky wouldn’t be a top contender for where the son of a former NBA icon wants to play college hoops at.
