Update: Elijah Groves is now heading to NC State.

The Kentucky Wildcats just lost one of their biggest commitments in the class of 2024.

On Tuesday, 4-star linebacker Elijah Groves decommitted from Kentucky.

Groves made the announcement on Twitter.

In addition, a 247 Sports Crystal Ball prediction was just logged in favor of NC State, so perhaps that’s where he’s about to land. Another prediction was just logged at On3 for the Wolfpack.

Hailing from Cross Plains (TN), Groves was a 4-star recruit ranked 302nd nationally by 247 Sports Composite. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder committed to Kentucky in July of 2023 while holding additional offers from NC State, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Army, and Memphis, among others.

This is a tough loss for Kentucky with the early signing period almost here. It also hurts that the current linebacker room just lost Keaten Wade and Martez Thrower to the transfer portal, so that position is a bit thin at the moment, pending NFL Draft decisions from D’Eryk Jackson and Trevin Wallace.
