Kentucky Wildcats guard Reed Sheppard has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week. It’s his first SEC honor and the second straight for the Wildcats after D.J. Wagner took home the award last week.

The 6-foot-3, 187-pound native of London (KY) is coming off his best week of the young season, averaging 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals per game while shooting 56.7% from the field in two games vs. No. 8 Miami and UNC Wilmington.

Against the Hurricanes, Sheppard racked up 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Then against UNC Wilmington, he tied a career-high with 25 points while grabbing a career-high nine rebounds.

Sheppard currently ranks among college basketball’s best in several categories, including his 61.1% 3-point field-goal percentage (1st), 3.0 steals per game (7th), 2.75 made 3s per game (60th), and 2.58 assist-to-turnover ratio (81st).
