The bowl game is set to be played at EverBank Stadium — the home facility of the Jacksonville Jaguars — on Friday, December 29th, with kickoff set for noon ET.
With Kentucky making a bowl appearance this season, head coach Mark Stoops and his staff now have a school record of eight consecutive bowl game appearances. Though last season’s 21-0 loss to Iowa in the Music City Bowl was a major letdown, the Wildcats did win their four previous bowl game appearances, which included several thrilling victories.
Stoops is 4-3 in his seven bowl games, with this one projected to be an uphill battle. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Wildcats find themselves as underdogs by more than a touchdown. Clemson is favored by 7.5 points, with the game’s point total set at 48.5.
As of now, star running back Ray Davis and offensive lineman Kenneth Horsey have both announced they will not participate in the team’s bowl game. With a few more NFL draft departures expected, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see others follow suit. This will be a good opportunity for some of Kentucky’s rotational players in line to see an increased role next season to get a jumpstart on earning experience against a very good football team.
