It appears Kentucky is going to be a player here.
Multiple sources tell On3 that Kentucky is the top destination to watch for the former five-star recruit.
Come on down?
The Kentucky Wildcats have had their string of success with transfer quarterbacks throughout the Mark Stoops era, starting with Stephen Johnson and Terry Wilson.
Most recently, the reins were handed over to Will Levis and Devin Leary.
Now, there will be a new name added to the list with Leary using up the last of his eligibility, and his replacement might have just entered into the portal.
Earlier today, Georgia Bulldogs QB Brock Vandagriff entered his name into the transfer portal and will be looking for a new home next fall.
Will be a lot of interest in Brock Vandagriff. Wanted his degree from UGA and he is about to get it. Great one here on and off the field , that phone line will be hot, but I don't think it will be too long on his next school..— Rusty Mansell (@RustyMansell_) December 4, 2023
Vandagriff, a 6-foot-3 and 205-pound signal-caller out of Bogart (GA), is a former 5-star prospect in the class of 2021 and was considered a top-five QB in the class by most recruiting outlets. He ultimately ended up in Athens playing for Kirby Smart but picked the Dawgs over offers from Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, and several others.
During his time at Georgia, Vandagriff only attempted 21 passes and threw for 165 yards, all coming in the 2023 season. Up until this season, he sat behind Stetson Bennett and was beat out for the job by Carson Beck this past fall. But despite all of that, Vandagriff will still be a hot commodity in the portal.
It has long been assumed that Vandagriff would be a guy Kentucky pursued in the portal this offseason, and many feel that it could be a good match for both parties. Other teams won't go down without a fight, however. Vandagriff was once an Oklahoma commit before ultimately heading to Athens, and his lead recruiter in Norman... Shane Beamer.
With Spencer Rattler heading to the NFL, one could safely assume that the Gamecocks will be a player.
Who else will come calling, and who will come out on top?
This will be one to watch.
