Happy New Year’s Eve!

Hopefully you have something lined up tonight to celebrate the beginning of 2024 with special people in your life. While you wait for the clock to strike midnight, you may want to take a look at the recap from the clinic Travis Perry put on in the WGM Holiday Classic over the weekend.

Perry, the state’s all-time leading scorer, was named the MVP after putting on an incredibly efficient performance. He scored 33 points on 11-17 shots, dished out 5 assists and grabbed as many rebounds in No. 3 Lyon County’s statement win over No. 2 Lexington Catholic.

Perry, who last month signed as part of the 2024 Kentucky basketball recruiting class, and his team have put on quite the show so far this season. After their four wins in the holiday classic, they improve to 12-1 and have made it clear they’re one of the favorites to cut down the nets in Rupp Arena come March.

With the way Reed Sheppard is playing for the Wildcats this season, who knows if we’ll end up getting to see a Sheppard-Perry backcourt next fall. Regardless if Sheppard declares for the NBA draft or not, having Perry in Lexington is a definite reason to be excited.
