A former Kentucky Wildcats stud is on the move, as Immanuel Quickley is being traded from the New York Knicks with teammate RJ Barrett.

They will head to the Toronto Raptors while OG Anunoby joins the Knicks, a team hopeful that this trade can propel them into title contention.

Here are the full details from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

On top of what’s listed by Woj, the Knicks will receive Precious Achiuwa to fill out their frontcourt, while the Raptors, who aren’t expected to contend this season, will add a second-round pick.

That said, Quickley is in his fourth season, all with New York so far. He was drafted with the 25th pick in 2020 and has averaged double figures in each season, notching a career-best 15 points per game on a career-best 45.4% shooting this season.

For New York, Anunoby will give them a key defensive presence that Quickley and Barrett didn’t bring. Jalen Brunson will be the key scoring option for the Knicks, and to be a more complete team, they really needed to fill out the defensive side of the court, which they have now done.

For Toronto, Quickley will add much-needed bench help and backcourt scoring, especially with the offseason exodus of star guard Fred VanVleet. Barrett will replace Anunoby as the starting small forward more than likely.

On paper, this trade seems like a win-win deal for both parties, though it is sad to see IQ leave New York and fellow UK alum Julius Randle.
