The College Football Playoff field is set.

The No. 1 Michigan Wolverines will face the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl, while the No. 2 Washington Huskies will get the No. 3 Texas Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl.

With that in mind, here are what some of the final bowl projections have for the Kentucky Wildcats.

The day has arrived for the four teams that will be selected by the College Football Playoff committee to compete for this year’s national championship, but also every other team in the country that’s bowl eligible — which included the Kentucky Wildcats.

2023 wasn’t the season fans (or the Wildcats themselves) hoped for. Injuries on the offensive line, inconsistency in the passing game and a defense that underperformed compared to expectations held UK back from what some had hoped to be a 10-win season.

Now, having both Alabama and Georgia as well as Missouri and Tennessee on the schedule didn’t help. But the team’s loss at South Carolina was one that was rather inexcusable.

Kentucky finished the regular season 7-5, which included a triumphant win over the in-state rival Louisville Cardinals. This improved the quality of their bowl game, but to what degree? Kentucky fans will learn that information later today when bowl games are announced.

As of now, it’s been speculated that the Wildcats will play in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl with their opponent likely being from the ACC. That ACC opponent has been speculated to be either Duke or Virginia Tech, though nothing is for certain until the announcement is made.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl was previously known as the Belk Bowl and is held in Charlotte, NC. This bowl game (or whichever bowl game Kentucky is placed in) will be the eighth consecutive for head coach Mark Stoops. While we know star running back Ray Davis will NOT play in the bowl game, other key players have not said if they are or aren’t.

This is all something to keep an eye on over the next few days, starting later today. Follow along with us as we learn which bowl game Kentucky will play in and who will be suiting up for Kentucky in that game on our website and our Twitter page.
