Have we seen the last of Zvonimir Ivisic in Lexington?
With the NCAA having yet to issue an eligibility ruling on the Kentucky Wildcats center, Big Z flew home to Croatia to be with family for the holidays.
When Z went home, there was scuttlebutt that he could remain there and not return to Kentucky, instead opting to train for the 2024 NBA Draft.
With Kentucky set to host Illinois State on Friday night, the school issued an update on Ivisic, saying he won’t be with the team but is planning to return next week.
Zvonimir Ivišić will not be with the team for tonight's game vs. Illinois State. Ivišić has been given extra time at home in Croatia following the holiday break and is expected back next week.— Kentucky Men’s Basketball (@KentuckyMBB) December 29, 2023
Following Kentucky’s recent win over Louisville, head coach John Calipari said Ivisic has been miserable as of late while not being able to play and battling several illnesses.
“He was 242 pounds, he’s 219, he’s not sleeping, not eating,” Calipari said.
Hopefully, Z is getting the recharge he needs back home and will be cleared by the NCAA soon enough.
