One of the top players from the state of Kentucky just scored a major SEC offer.

Class of 2026 guard Taylen Kinney has received a scholarship offer from the Tennessee Volunteers.

Kinney, hailing from Newport (KY), announced the news on Christmas Eve.

Kinney is a 6-foot, 160-pound guard who plays for Newport High School. He’s been offered by Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M, among others.

It is still early for John Calipari and the staff to be recruiting in the class of 2026, as they have only offered one recruit so far in the class, that being 5-star power forward Tyran Stokes.

However, there is clear interest from both sides, as Kinney visited Kentucky during Big Blue Madness back in October.

And in a recent interview with the Louisville Courier-Journal, Kinney said he plans to visit the school again to watch a practice while adding his primary recruiter is Orlando Antigua.

With Kentucky getting more Bluegrass recruits to stay in-state recently, perhaps Kinney will eventually join the likes of Dominique Hawkins, Derek Willis, Dontaie Allen, Reed Sheppard, and most recently, Travis Perry.

If Kinney can continue to produce like he has been on the court so far during his high school season, Kentucky should continue to ramp up its pursuit of the rising Bluegrass star.

In the meantime, check out some brief highlights of him in action!
