Kentucky Football is set to lose three running backs to either the transfer portal, NFL Draft, or graduation. Thus, the Wildcats knew they needed to make some moves by recruiting the running back position.

Kentucky was able to do that and landed two new running backs in this class in Jason Patterson and Tovani Mizell.

Here’s how Patterson feels after he signed his national letter of intent with Kentucky.

“It feels great,” Patterson tells A Sea of Blue. “You know, I’ve been loving the UK ever since I flipped my commitment back, and I’ve been ready to put pen to paper.”

One of the reasons why Patterson did decide to decommit from Cincinnati is due to the relationship he had with Kentucky.

“[It’s] just the relationship,” Patterson tells us. “I thought it was better with Coach (Jay) Boulware and Coach (Liam) Coen. It becomes a bigger bond, I felt like Kentucky was better for my skill set where I provide for the game, and I feel like that they were going to benefit me more to get me to my end goal.”

Patterson’s end goal is to be able to make it to the NFL, but other team goals include competing to go to Atlanta and the College Football Playoff.

“I mean, you can go with a bunch of [team goals],” Patterson said. “I mean, a lot of people got a bunch of little goals, like some of my goals may consist of winning the SEC first, and then a college football playoff, like win the first game.”

With Patterson set to join the team, some of the staff believe his game is similar to Chris Rodriguez Jr. If that is the case, Kentucky has another great running back joining the roster, one who could make an impact immediately as a true freshman.
