DeCarlos Nicholson commits to USC

The one-time Kentucky commit won’t be coming to Lexington.

The Kentucky Wildcats won’t be landing Mississippi State cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson after all.

Coming into the early signing period, Kentucky was viewed as a major player for Nicholson, but his signature never came in.

Now, Nicholson has announced his commitment to the USC Trojans.

Funnily enough, Nicholson was a one-time Kentucky commit for the class of 2022. He committed to Kentucky back in September of 2021 but was a signing day flip, ultimately landing in Starkville for two seasons after blowing up in the JUCO ranks.

However, Nicholson went back on the market recently after Mississippi State fired head coach Zach Arnett. Kentucky was quick to get him to Lexington for an official visit, but for whatever reason, things didn’t pan out in the end.

This past season for the Bulldogs, Nicholson had his best year yet with 42 tackles, two tackles for loss, and two pass breakups.

Nicholson was seen as one of the best cornerbacks in the portal, something Kentucky needed after the departures of Jalen Geiger (portal) and Dru Phillips (NFL Draft).

Alas, Nicholson won’t be coming to Lexington after all, so look for Mark Stoops and Co. to look at other transfer portal options.
