It's not always positive news in the recruiting world, and the Kentucky Wildcats have some negative news for the third time in a week.
On Wednesday, 3-star defender Lorenzo Cowan announced on social media that he is reopening his recruitment.
The next landing spot for Cowan is already pretty clear as he visited the USC Trojans over the weekend before announcing his decommitment.
On top of that, there have already been predictions from various recruiting analysts predicting him to end up with the Trojans.
Cowan’s younger brother Tavion Gadson is a freshman on Kentucky’s defensive line, but the family connection was not enough to keep Cowan as part of the 2024 class.
Despite decommiting from Kentucky, Cowan had nothing but positives to say about Kentucky in his message.
Cowan now joins 4-star linebacker Elijah Groves, who flipped to NC State, and 3-star offensive lineman Jadon Lafontant, who flipped to Boston College, as decommitments within the last week.
Kentucky’s 2024 class, which is still ranked in the top 25 nationally, is now down to 20 commits as Stoops and his staff are in the middle of building their 2024 roster. This could also open another spot for a college transfer to come in and make an instant impact in 2024.
Best of luck to Cowan wherever he lands!
