As the Kentucky Wildcats look to continue scoring big on the transfer market, they’ve lost another reserve player to the portal.
On Monday, it was revealed that defensive back Elijah Reed was entering the portal.
On3 broke the news first.
Originally a class of 2022 recruit, Reed came to Kentucky as a 3-star cornerback ranked 1,191st nationally by 247 Sports Composite. He signed with the Cats while holding additional scholarship offers from West Virginia, Illinois, Utah, and Purdue.
After redshirting in 2022, Reed primarily played on special teams this year, finishing with one tackle made in the win over the No. 10 Louisville Cardinals.
It’s no secret that Kentucky’s secondary had its struggles this year, so Reed still not being able to crack the rotation was likely the writing on the wall he needed to decide it was time for a transfer.
Best of luck to Reed wherever he lands!
