Super senior Zion Childress will return for his final year.

As the Kentucky Wildcats continue to figure out who will be staying or leaving for the NFL Draft/transfer portal, they received some great news on Sunday.

Veteran safety Zion Childress announced on Twitter that he would be returning to Kentucky for his final season of eligibility.

Below is the announcement.

Childress played at Texas State before coming to Kentucky in 2022, where he played in all 13 games and even started in one game. In his first season at Kentucky, he had 34 tackles, including two tackles for a loss.

In 2023, Childress was named a team captain and had a solid year with 51 tackles, two tackles for a loss, and two pass breakups.

Although still early, it appears Kentucky will keep most of its starting defense as they hope to improve from a lackluster season on both sides of the ball. The defense allowed 24.8 points per game, which is nearly average, coming in at No. 59 in the country.

Look for that unit to improve in a big way in 2024, and expect Childress to be a big part of it!
