The Kentucky Wildcats had a full visitors list on campus this weekend that included its fair share of highly ranked transfer targets, but it also included its fair share of current high school commits.
One of the players who made the trip to Lexington is 4-star UK commit Quaysheed Scott. Out of Marion (SC), the talented safety is coming off an impressive senior season on both sides of the ball, which had the home-state Gamecocks come calling.
With a visit planned for next weekend to see Shane Beamer in Columbia, Scott took to Twitter on Sunday morning to shut his recruitment down.
I will no longer be taking an official visit to USC Gamecocks this weekend. My recruitment is completely shut down!! BBN ⚪️ pic.twitter.com/rPuZM3P7n0— Quaysheed “ Q “ Scott (@QuaysheedScott) December 10, 2023
Scott committed to the Cats on July 4th over an original final five of Old Dominion, App State, Georgia Southern, and Miami (OH). He’s now a 4-star prospect ranked 293rd nationally by On3 and fifth in the state of South Carolina.
Midway through his high school season, the offer came in from the Gamecocks, and the commitment flip watch started up, especially when Kentucky lost in Columbia.
With some needed depth at the safety position, locking down Scott is a huge win for Brad White and his defensive unit. It also continues the momentum that has been building for this Kentucky staff on the recruiting trail, holding off a home-state program like the Gamecocks.
Now, let’s see if a few more commitments come out of this weekend.
