Kentucky Wildcats legend Oscar Tshiebwe is finally getting his shot in the NBA.

After putting up historic numbers in the G-League, Tshiebwe will be called up to the Indiana Pacers active roster for Thursday’s game vs. the Miami Heat.

Head coach Rick Carlisle made the announcement Wednesday via Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star. Tshiebwe is filling the void left by forward Jalen Smith, who is now sidelined with a knee bruise.

In six games with the G-League’s Mad Ants, Tshiebwe has averaged 19.2 points (59.2% shooting), 18.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.8 steals across 29.4 minutes per game.

Tshiebwe will get to play alongside fellow former Wildcats forward Isaiah Jackson, who is averaging 5.1 points (51.6% shooting), 4.6 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 0.9 assists in 14 minutes per contest.

As for the Heat, they also have several former Wildcats in Bam Adebayo (23.3 ppg and 10.3 rpg) and Tyler Herro (22.9 ppg and 4.6 apg), though the latter is still out for a bit due to an ankle injury.

Time for Big O to prove he can make it in the NBA.
