The Kentucky Wildcats got huge news earlier in the day when offensive lineman Eli Cox announced his return for the 2024 season.
Now, UK has its left tackle back, as Marques Cox has announced he too is coming back for his final season of eligibility.
Cox made the announcement on Twitter.
Originally a class of 2018 recruit, the 6-foot-5, 311-pound Cox began his career at Northern Illinois, where he spent five years and was a starter for four of them at left tackle after redshirting in 2018. Unfortunately, the Illinois native suffered a season-ending injury early in the 2022 season vs. UK, which led to him taking a medical redshirt.
As fate would have it, Cox entered the transfer portal in the 2023 offseason and wound up at UK, where he started every game at left tackle this season. The 2024 season will be his seventh year of college football.
Getting Cox back for 2024 is wonderful news for the Big Blue Wall, which now has its blindside protector back, as well as a team captain and versatile interior lineman in Eli Cox, who can play guard and center.
