The Kentucky Wildcats just got massive news, as offensive lineman Eli Cox will be returning for the 2024 season, his final year of eligibility.
Cox made the announcement Tuesday via Twitter.
Keeping it short and sweet, Cox said, “I’m excited to announce that I’m returning to UK for my sixth and final season!”
Originally a class of 2019 recruit, Cox is a Kentucky native from nearby Nicholasville who played at West Jessamine. The 6-foot-4, 311-pounder redshirted his first year, saw extensive action as a backup in 2020, then became a full-time starter in 2021 and never looked back.
Cox was actually a mid-season All-American during the 2021 campaign at right guard before suffering a season-ending injury in Game 9.
In 2022, Cox started every game at center.
This season, Cox was a team captain who began the season as the starting right guard before moving back to center. He’s arguably been Kentucky’s best offensive lineman regardless of where he played, and that added versatility makes his return a massive addition for the Big Blue Wall.
