Update:

The first round of new college basketball rankings are out for Kentucky Basketball and Miami Basketball.

  • The Coaches Top 25 Poll put the Cats at No. 12 and Miami at No. 8. Those are the same spots in the new AP Poll.
  • The ESPN Power Rankings have Kentucky checking in at 11, while Miami is at 9. That’s Kentucky’s highest ranking at any outlet.
  • The Andy Katz Power 36 put Kentucky at 16 and the Canes at 6, their highest ranking anywhere.
  • CBS Sports’ Top 25 And 1 has the Cats at 12 and Miami at 8.
  • KenPom has Kentucky at 17 and, oddly. Miami at 37.
  • HaslaMetrics put the Cats at 25 and the Hurricanes at 36.
  • Evan Miya had it as Kentucky at 20 and Miami at 39.
  • Bart Torvik has Kentucky at 16 and Miami at 34, so the advanced analytics clearly aren’t as high on the Canes as the national media is.

The Kentucky Wildcats are prepping for tomorrow night’s big matchup against the Miami Hurricanes at Rupp Arena, but after two wins last week, it will be interesting to see how the Wildcats fare in the latest rankings.

The Wildcats picked up two wins, which included a closer-than-expected matchup against St. Joe’s that went into overtime, with the Cats coming out ahead 96-88.

Kentucky followed that up with one of the best offensive performances in the John Calipari era, a 118-82 blowout victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd. In that game, the Cats scored 69 points in the first half and finished with 118, the most points during Calipari’s tenure.

The Cats should see some movement in the rankings, likely jumping into the top 15, with the teams ahead in the last rankings suffering losses over the past week, but it will be interesting to see just how far the Cats move up.

Meanwhile, Miami, who was ranked No. 10 last week, should also see some movement in the polls, setting a big stage for tomorrow night’s matchup.

Check back throughout the day for updates on the latest college basketball rankings and top 25 polls for Kentucky.
